In Brief

Glasgowbury is a multi-award winning music festival and music group, based in the rural village of Draperstown, in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains, within Magherafelt District Council area. It hosts year-round activities aimed at supporting and enhancing the Northern Ireland music scene and providing access to the arts and creative industries.

Run by musicians, for musicians, Glasgowbury is a not-for-profit organisation created in 2000 to nurture young creative talent.

In Detail

Glasgowbury provides activities and services to people of all ages and backgrounds, particularly young people, ranging from songwriting workshops to animation master classes, from sound advice projects to the annual festival and has become a force for creative change.

Glasgowbury is a multi-award winning group and has been at the forefront of representing the best in new and creative talent from throughout NI. The festival has been voted both Ireland’s and Northern Ireland’s best, while its projects have led the way in terms of excellence; the Rural Key Music Project for example was selected by the Carnegie UK Trust as NI’s ‘Rural Spark’ – recognising the project as one which brought creativity and innovation to a rural area.

BT Connected Communities, as part of the Get IT Together programme in partnership with the UK Charity, Citizens Online, are investing resources to increase public access to computers and the internet.

To help facilitate this, BT has provided three refurbished computers and two laptops. There are opportunities for BT staff and the wider community to volunteer as Digital Champions to deliver short informal fun introductory sessions to the computer and internet and/or one-to-one mentoring support to participants in this venue.

For more information on courses or volunteering opportunities, please contact the group.
